Places to Take Your Dog
Dogs are not allowed on the beaches on Anna Maria Island. However, many consider Anna Maria area very pet friendly! There are actually plenty of places to take your pup for the afternoon.
Scentral Park dog park has gone through some major renovations recently. Amenities of the park include separate areas for small dogs, a splash pad, canine and human water fountains and plenty of running space. The new and improved gazebo offers updated seating and plenty of shade during the dog days of summer. Grab your fur babies and your fur-ever friends and head to 6000 Flotilla Drive, Holmes Beach, FL 34217.
The second main area to take your furry friend is Robinson Preserve. This 679-acre preserve, just a short drive off the island, is a grand place to take the family. Filled with numerous walking trails, elevated nicely above the foliage, you can see rare wildlife and fascinating wetlands. There are public restrooms and water fountains available. Dogs on leashes are welcomed.
You can take your dogs anywhere on the island sidewalks as long as they are properly leashed. You can very easily see the sights and explore the island at your own pace with your most loyal friend in tow.
For the most part, if the restaurant has a patio, dogs are welcome. Check with the restaurant before you go to make sure their pet policy has not changed. You can also ask if they provide a water bowl or if they have a pet friendly menu! Some local restaurants on the beach can not allow pets in some areas due to local pets on the beach rules.
Bridge Street on Anna Maria Island
“Anna Maria’s Hot Spot” is now Historic Bridge Street on Bradenton Beach, the southernmost city of Anna Maria Island. Bridge Street, where the original wooden bridge was the only means of access to the island, where a beautiful fishing pier is in its place today, leading to an active street where you can Shop~Dine~Play from beach to bay. Bridge Street offers a walkable community with spectacular water views from the both the pier and the gulf beach. Bridge Street on Anna Maria Island is dog friendly at restaurants with outdoor dining welcome well-behaved dogs on leashes.
